OUR HISTORY
Shivakoti Printing Press has a rich history that dates back to its establishment around 30 years ago in 1986. Founded by Mr. Rohit Kumar Sharma, the printing press began its journey in Nivedita Road, Pradhan Nagar, Siliguri, West Bengal. During those times, computers were scarce and expensive, and printing was primarily carried out using Letter Press Machines and Tradel Machines.
Mr. Rohit Kumar Sharma’s passion for printing and his prior experience as a Technical-Incharge at the Hindi Daily Newspaper called Janapath Samachar served as the driving force behind his decision to start his own printing press. Although his master, Rajendra Baid, was initially saddened by the news, he eventually extended his support by providing valuable tools, including a Hindi Type Tool Imposing Stone, which proved instrumental in laying the foundation of Shivakoti Printing Press.
The early days of the printing press were challenging, with limited resources and financial constraints. Mr. Sharma purchased his first Tradel Machine with a loan of Rs. 4,500/- from Allahabad Bank, H. C. Road Branch. Initially working alone, he toiled relentlessly, even working from 3 a.m. in the morning to meet the demands of his growing clientele. The meager income earned from his family’s tea-stall played a crucial role in supporting the printing press during its early stages.
